This original book, "The Almost True Story of Birds of Paradise," was written and illustrated by Carolyn Gora.  It was created for her grandchildren to read for themselves and was influenced by the bird of paradise plants that grew in her garden.  The flowers turn into birds who travel to a garden with other plants with animal names.  The cost includes shipping.
